Shenandoah National Park

Update Week of April 13

Every Monday by noon, the 5th grade teachers will post weekly learning activities in the "suggested weekly review" tab on the 5th grade webpage.  A suggested learning schedule for all students is posted in my files on the left side of this webpage.

I will have three Zoom sessions a week with the class.
Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 10:30-11:00am.
I will send the Zoom link about 15 minutes prior to each session.

All 5th grade teachers are available for office hours at the following times:
Tuesday: 9:00-9:30am
Thursday: 1:00-1:30pm
These are times I am always available through Dojo or e-mail to answer questions and provide feedback on any student work.  I often check ClassDojo and e-mail throughout the week, so you can send your questions or students work at any time. These are the times I can guarantee I will not have any meetings or distractions from answering questions and supporting you.

Please continue to check for updates from the superintendent. I will continue to update with relevant information for my class and school.

You can refer to the pacing documents in the files and documents tab on the left to see the instruction pacing for 5th grade units.

The situation continues to evolve and change, so pleas check the county webpage for updates daily.

Please continue to record studying on your SOL calendar. I will send out an April calendar at the end of this month.  Please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns on ClassDojo or

Welcome to 5th grade!

I am very excited to be your child's 5th grade teacher at Sinclair Elementary.  This will be my seventh year teaching at Sinclair, teaching two years in Pennsylvania before moving to Virginia.  I am passionate about teaching, with the belief that students learn best when they are motivated and have a genuine desire to learn.  I work to create engaging and high interest lessons, projects, and activities for all students to help motivate and spark that desire for learning.

I set high expectations for my students, and expect them to partake in building a safe classroom community.  Bringing trust, honesty, and determination into the classroom will help each student succeed and make this one of the best years in school!

Parents, please feel free to e-mail (, message me on ClassDojo, or call for any questions, comments, or concerns.

To my outgoing 5th grade students, I loved teaching you and best of luck in middle school and beyond!  Come back and visit!
To my incoming 5th grade students, rest up and be prepared to work during the 2019-2020 school year!
