Hello Sinclair Eagles from the Title I Math Specialists!

Mrs. Oyhenart (Mrs. “O”.) and Mrs. George would like to welcome you to Sinclair and introduce you to our Title I Math website. We see many of you in your classes each week and really enjoy co-teaching lessons, working with you in small groups, or spending time exploring math with you while you are in school. While you are at home, you are probably reading great books, watching interesting TV programs and movies, drawing fabulous pictures, and writing exciting stories. But...how about having some fun with math at home? What... fun with math??!! Of course!

Looking for something fun to do at home? In the "We Did That in School" link on our webpage, you can find some of the online fun that we have been doing in classrooms. Try a strategy game or a fun online pattern activity!

Looking for even more math learning? Peek at our Newsletters by going to the Math/Science Newsletter link to the left of this message. These newsletters provide information for math strategies, fun science and math experiments, and even book reviews! They are available in both English and Spanish.

Would you like a math challenge?  Check out our “Try This! Activities” link! Here you can try counting challenges and many other fun activities to stretch your math mind. There are even more games, activities, and videos!

Need still more to do? Wow! You are really a math enthusiast!! Don't forget that you have at-home access to DreamBox (all grade levels) and IXL (grades 2-5). These online programs will help you learn new math skills and review skills you worked on earlier in the year to keep your brain sharp. Grade K and 1 teachers sent home Clever badges so you should be able to log in with ease. If you are in grades 2-5, log in through Clever like you do every day at school. We have also added some other online ideas in the "Useful Links" section to the left of this message. Try them out and let us know what you think!

Parents--would you like to know which math standards your child has been working on and where they are headed? Click on the "Useful Links" section to the left of this message and choose the first link. This will take you to the PWCS Mathematics site. From there, you can choose "Elementary" and then find your child's grade level from the list provided in the center of the page. Scrolling through the information, you will find all the standards for that grade level. Super useful and informative!

Finally, do you have a math question or want to share what you have been working on at home? Feel free to email us and tell us what cool ideas you have for keeping math in your daily life! Our email addresses are at the bottom of this message, or you can also contact us through the "Staff Directory" tab at the top of the webpage. Remember, we're here to help!

So, look around you, Sinclair Eagles, and get busy enjoying math every day! Let's keep soaring!!
