Welcome to Mrs. Greene's 2nd Grade Class Page
I would like to welcome you to a new and exciting school year!! My name is Talia Greene and this is my ninth year of teaching and my second year here at Sinclair Elementary. I have taught Kindergarten, First, Second and Third Grade in North Carolina and Virginia. I am originally from North Carolina and relocated to Leesburg, Virginia back in 2015. I have a wonderful husband and a daughter who just started Kindergarten. In my spare time I enjoy travelling and spending time with my family. I am looking forward to a great school year. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org
Spring is upon us!! Please make sure that your child is reading nightly and question them about what they are reading as this will help them with their comprehension of the text. Please check your child's Yellow Folder daily for any important information that may go home and talk to your child about what they are learning in school. As always, thank you for your support!!
During most of April, we will be focusing on our Fractions Unit. Our test will occur on April 21. After that we will continue our units on Number Sense and Computation. We will be focusing on money, place value, estimating, and comparing money and numbers. Please discuss with your child what they are learning each day.
In reading, students will continue to work on their reading strategies, decoding and comprehension skills to help boost their reading skills. Students will also be working on adjectives, verbs, contractions, Comparing/Contrasting fiction and nonfiction along with Summarizing and Asking/Answering Questions.
Social Studies – During the first week of April, we will be finishing up our Economics unit. Our test will be on April 6th so please plan on having your child attend school that day. This is the last day of school prior to Spring Break. A study guide will be sent home.
Science – Upcoming in May, we will be exploring our environment and the plants and animals that are found around us, including their life cycles. This is a very exciting unit for all students. The test will be around the middle of May.
